Science Fair Project

I have three ideas for my eighth grade science fair project this year. They are:

1.       Do different structures for a bridge make it stronger?

2.       Do more popcorn kernels pop at different temperatures?

3.       Do different brands of plants grow better than others?

How I will do the experiments:

1.       Do different structures for a bridge make it stronger?

For this experiment, I would test different bridge structures to determine which can hold the most weight.

2.       Do more popcorn kernels pop at different temperatures?

In this project, I would keep popcorn kernels stored at zero degrees Fahrenheit, thirty-seven degrees Fahrenheit, and room temperature. There would be five bags for each temperature. The bags will each be in that temperature for at least twenty-four hours. I would then pop the popcorn, and count the number of unpopped kernels in each bag. Then I would average the number of unpopped kernels for each temperature it was stored at. This will help determine which temperature popcorn kernels are best stored at.

3.       Do different brands of plants grow better than others?

In this experiment, I would test if a plant from one store grows better than a plant from a different store. Maybe the store use a different fertilizer, or they grow it differently from a seed.

I made up these ideas for my different science fair projects.
